5 Reasons to see Big Girl Pants

Reviews are in for Big Girl Pants, happening every third Thursday at 8 pm at Spitfire Comedy House, and it's a show you don't want to miss! The show that started as a way to highlight female headliners has created opportunities for female comedians growing in the craft. It quizzes male comics on stage to show what they know know about women. The more they know, the more stage time they get before the female headliner.

Here’s 5 reasons Big Girl Pants is Spitfire’s hottest ticket this month!

1. Dudes get drilled with questions they can’t answer

That’s not entirely true, but what they can answer will surprise you. Questions range from “common” knowledge about female history, including identifying images of objects and items that some men likely have never seen.

2. Eclectic female headliners destroy the room with laughter

From Helen Keeney to this month’s Morgan Gallo, the headliners have consistently delivered grand slam sets. “There’s never been anything like it, and the sound of the crowds every week gets louder and louder,” says Nick Rigs, Spitfire’s Art and Education director. “The headliners are some the very best around.”

3. Anything can happen once the game show ends

It’s one of those big, fun shows where the audience gets to shout the answers if the guys miss them (and they miss ’em, for sure). While the first half of the show has it’s own built in magic, the second half features comedy that everyone can get in on!

4. The male comics are pretty good, too

The headliners are amazing every month, featuring some of the best around the state. And if we’re being honest, the male comics are pretty good, too. Both male comics get to do little bit of time before the main comic takes the stage, and they tend to crush it. We just wish they would smile more.

5. The show has created more room for female comics on stage

BGP makes the idea that ‘women can’t be funny’ laughable! Beyond that, it’s given local female comics more stage time, and drawn together a crowd that’s as keen on good comedy as they are ready for shows that feature more women then men. According to one audience member, “It’s a show where the ladies are in control. It's fun to watch the male comics squirm while learning a thing or two about women. Lauren Dufault and Dree Friar light up the stage as the hosts.”
