Improvised Shakespeare Celebrates the Arts in Downtown St Pete

This month, we’re taking part in St Pete’s Celebration of the Arts festival with an improvised Shakespearean play.

Our improvised Shakespeare show, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Aren’t Dead, follows two bros who get transported back to the 17th century and find themselves caught in the middle of treason, treachery, and hopeless romance. It’s a whirlwind comedy inspired by Hamlet, The Wizard of Oz, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and the hit 90s film Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead. Since the dialogue and the story are made up in the moment every night, you’ll never get the same show twice.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (who’s-who isn’t ever clear) are out of luck right away: their roommate is moving out, they lost their girlfriend, rent is due and they don’t have jobs. To make matters worse, the maintence guy put a virus on their computer to fuck with them, which thrusts them backwards in time. They find themselves transported to medieval Denmark, where they’re tangled in Shakespearean tragedy discovered scene by scene.

Starring Amadeus Dameron & Matt Peteranecz, Larry Bukovey, Hannah Prince, Jay Revis, Mike Barbieri & Zach Mouriz.

Running Fridays at 10pm through February, you can catch the show for just $15. Bring 3 friends along with you and you’ll get $5 off per person. Purchase tickets online at SpitfireTheater.com or visit our Show page. Suggested for people 18 and up, with adult themes and language.
