Do you have any hobbies outside of improv?
Beach going, fishing, tinkering with cars and boats, traveling, playing card games, board games and video games.
What drew you to improv?
One of my close friends, Coleman, practically dragged me to a free jam only to find myself immediately hooked! The energy and laughter were intoxicating and that's when I knew I wanted to pursue improv further.
What do you like to do most on stage?
Creating really strong characters.
What makes a good scene in your opinion?
Being true to the scene, honoring your scene partners and finding the funny in the relationships of the characters on stage.
What's the most memorable moment you've had at Spitfire?
I was in a scene called "Half Time," of which you have two minutes to complete a scene, and then you must complete the same exact scene in half the time all the way until 3.5 seconds are left. Our team was in an ER room for the suggestion and at one point I held the patients beating heart in my hand, going "tha-thump, tha-thump, tha-thump" and of course had to speed it up each time we did the reoccurring scene. Turned out to be good object work because I got a complement from an EMT on my accuracy of the heart beats!
How would you explain Spitfire shows to someone who's never been?
Spitfire has a wide variety of improv shows, each tailored to different audiences, ranging from kids to adults. Each show features hilarious comedy made up completely on the spot utilizing audience's suggestions as the fuel for the improviser's comedic fire. It's the only improv theater in the Tampa Bay area that has multiple shows each week featuring different formats for each show.
How would you describe the Spitfire community in 5 words or less?
Supportive, loving, hilarious, inventive and growing!
