Spitfire Spotlight: Michele Rende

Michele Rende

What's your day job?

Sales Partner at Transamerica.

Do you have any hobbies outside of improv?

Reading, dancing, concerts.

What drew you to improv?

I have been doing community theater since I was child in New York and when I moved to Florida last year, I was looking to get back involved in the arts and meet new people. I googled theater classes and up came Spitfire Theater. As I read about the classes and the theater, I knew I wanted to try it. I was hooked after the first class.

What do you like to do most on stage?

I love to play the obvious. Finding the humor in every day activities and what would be a sad occasion.

What makes a good scene in your opinion?

Being in the moment while supporting your scene partners. Also getting out of your own head and making that connection with your partners and with the audience.

What's the most memorable moment you've had at Spitfire?

For me every performance, whether I’m in it or in the audience watching, is memorable.

How would you explain Spitfire shows to someone who's never been?

I explain that it’s not stand up because a lot of people immediately assume that’s what it is. I explain that we play out scenes or games based on audience suggestions and that nothing is scripted. I also tell them they’re going to laugh and have a great time!

How would you describe the Spitfire community in 5 words or less?

Love, Friendship, Talented, Creative, Growing.
